Favorite Place
My favorite place is a local park on the James River in Virginia called Jamestown Beach. This is my favorite place because it was where I started my first job and I learned so much about myself through that experience. Working in the park helped me figure out what I wanted to study in college and gave me a solid foundation in environmental conservation that shaped my interests for my future career! I also made so many friends and met very interesting people at the beach throughout the five years of working there, so it was an unforgettable experience that made me grow significantly as a person.
What was your first interaction with a school-community project and the impact it had on you?
As an urban planning student, community involvement is a big part of our research and studies. One of the first introductions to a school-community partnership project I had is the RVA Eviction Lab at VCU. The lab has a large variety of ongoing community projects and research regarding eviction in Richmond, VA, and student involvement is heavily encouraged and helpful!
How did you first learn about EPIC-N?
I am learning about EPIC-N through my internship with the EPA!
What are some of the top priorities you are working on this year?
I am working on expanding my knowledge of sustainable development and environmental conservation. Also, I will be applying to graduate school very soon, so that is on my mind as well!
In what ways are you looking to engage, or work with others, either from within the EPIC-Network, or in general?
I am looking to engage with others on the EPIC-Network to give me insight into the work I will be doing for EPIC-N. I will be primarily maintaining databases, so putting names and faces to the programs I am working with will be an important aspect of my internship!
