EPIC-N Releases 2024 Award Nomination Forms
EPIC-N seeks to celebrate outstanding contributions by university programs and faculty partners through awards presented at the annual 2024 EPIC-Network Conference. Read below to learn about award eligibility and the nomination process. Register and find other conference details here.
Partnership of the Year Award
Purpose
The purpose of this award is to honor programs that have successfully demonstrated a mutually beneficial and invested partnership between higher education and local governments. Award winners promote cooperation among education, community, government, and business leaders. They work on critical community issues and increase public awareness and support for higher education and local government partnerships. They reflect a high standard of excellence in managing and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to ensure successful partnerships. The winner of the award will receive a commemorative plaque and widespread recognition via EPIC-N’s website and social media platforms.

Who reviews nominations
The EPIC-N conference committee collects the nomination materials. The materials are then presented to the selection committee which includes leaders representing the EPIC-N board, advisory board, and other network supporters.
How the nomination process works
EPIC-N sends the call for nominations to all member campuses through the EPIC-N listserv and mailing list. Individual programs are encouraged to nominate their own program, or another program if they feel so inclined. The nomination form will be easy to complete (no more than 5-pages). The nomination should be completed as fully as possible. After the due date, the selection committee will systematically review the nominations. Once a decision is made, EPIC-N staff will provide notification to all those who submitted an application.
Eligibility
For consideration, the nominated program should have:
(1) A submitted EPIC Model Certification form
(2) Projects updated in the Project Library.
Selection
Reviewers will use the following criteria in their selection process.
The nominated partnership has-
- A mutually beneficial collaboration between a local government and a higher education institution that addresses documented community challenges
- An up-to-date evaluation plan that is used for program improvement and communications
- A program with a sustainable business model that includes a diversity of funding sources
- A program with a communications plan
- Mechanisms for supporting faculty and students as they strives to produce deliverables for communities
- A process for ensuring high-quality products given to local governments that are tracked for future impact in the community
- Concrete impacts experienced as a result of student reports
Expectations
By submitting an application, the program hereby consents to have the provided information and images displayed in videos, photographs, and any supplemental materials posted on the EPIC-N website and/or any additional marketing materials. Partners hereby authorize and consent to the sharing of this information with the selection committee. Partners understand that this information will be reviewed by authorized members of the selection committee in evaluating our project/program for this award.

Outstanding Faculty Partner
Purpose
The purpose of this award is to honor an outstanding faculty member, who has built and maintained successful community-university partnerships with their local EPIC-N program and community partner to achieve locally-defined public goals and advance the civic mission of the institution. The winner of the award will receive a commemorative plaque and widespread recognition via EPIC-N’s website and social media platforms.

- Participates in or leads one project for the institution’s EPIC-N program
- Shows dedication to meeting community-defined needs and demonstrates the impact of the partnership
- Fosters participation of faculty / departmental colleagues in the EPIC-N partnership
- Expands the awareness of the EPIC-N partnership in the broader campus community
- Ensures that deliverables given to local governments are useful to advance local goals
- Exhibits a commitment to equitable, democratic partnerships, as well as efficient and innovative local government practices.
