The Town of Miami, located at the heart of the Copper Corridor, is planning for a new era of growth and development as more residents move to the area to support mining operations in the region. Downtown Miami is the center of the community, as it is home to Town Hall, a variety of local businesses, Miami Memorial Park, places of worship, and historic buildings, staircases, and other elements integral to the community’s history and sense of place. As Miami strives to balance the history of the community with the need for development and improved services, the Town seeks a playbook for how to revitalize its downtown area to promote environmental, social, and economic resilience. Therefore, the Town of Miami collaborated with a team of Master of Urban and Environmental Planning (MUEP) Planning Workshop students through the ASU Project Cities program to inventory downtown parcels, facilitate a community preference survey, and create a playbook to guide Miami’s downtown revitalization efforts now and into the future.
