Although Marinette, Wisconsin cannot implement a ban on plastic bags, city officials can leverage various policy tools to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bags including providing affordable bag alternatives, promoting normative messaging, and using conservation psychology tactics. Working with local businesses would allow Marinette to encourage attitude and behavior shifts among consumers toward pro-environmental behaviors, reducing plastic
pollution and helping Marinette move toward a more sustainable future.
