Zero Waste La Mesa is a program that focuses on creating a clearer and cleaner environment for their community. The program aims to reduce harmful emissions and support the city’s vision in creating a safer and healthier environment by diverting 75% of their waste from the landfill, at home composting, donation and recycling. To help achieve this goal, the city is working hard to provide helpful programs for everyone and businesses within the community to recycle and benefit the community further. A group of designers worked together to develop an efficient branding system that includes basic brand elements such as graphic marks, business cards, posters, flyers, ads and a responsive web page. In order to do this, each individual designer initiated their own research regarding the program and explored other branding systems similar to the topic. This process helped each designer to create multiple solutions based on the client’s vision in developing a branding solution that clearly identifies with the program’s purpose. A much more modern, non-traditional design is what the client visions their brand to be in order to significantly attract their community member’s attention.
